Our esteemed Client who is based in Thika is a Super brands SME in the food manufacturing sector. He is seeking to hire a Production Manager who is hands on and highly experienced motivated cheerleader.

 

 

ROLE PURPOSE

To oversee, plan, and control all production operations to ensure efficient output, adherence to quality standards, cost optimization, and timely delivery of finished goods. The role ensures effective coordination with logistics, maintenance, procurement, loss control, HR, and finished goods store to support smooth plant operations.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Production Planning & Target Setting
  • Develop daily, weekly, and monthly production plans aligned to sales forecasts and inventory requirements.
  • Set realistic and achievable production targets for all lines.
  • Monitor actual output against targets and implement corrective actions.

 

  1. Production Operations Management
  • Ensure all production processes run efficiently, cost‑effectively, and safely.
  • Enforce high standards of quality, hygiene, and compliance.
  • Review shift performance and provide guidance to supervisors.
  • New products Development and costing

 

  1. Coordination & Cross‑Functional Liaison
  • Work closely with Logistics to ensure timely dispatch and raw material flow.
  • Coordinate with Procurement on raw material availability.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance to schedule preventive maintenance and minimize downtime.
  • Partner with Loss Control to implement controls and prevent wastage.
  • Liaise with HR on staffing, disciplinary issues, and training.
  • Work with the Finished Goods Store Supervisor to align production with storage capacity and dispatch needs.
  1. Resource & Workforce Management
  • Allocate manpower effectively based on production load.
  • Ensure staff adherence to SOPs and safety protocols.
  • Lead training, coaching, and performance development for the production team.

 

  1. Quality, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, food safety, and quality requirements.
  • Conduct routine checks to maintain product and process standards.
  • Enforce health and safety practices including house-keeping within the production floor.

 

  1. Reporting & Continuous Improvement
  • Prepare daily and monthly production reports.
  • Analyze variances and recommend process improvements.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce waste, downtime, and operational costs.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Production Management, Food Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing, preferably food processing.
  • Proven experience in team leadership and production planning.

  • Sound understanding of production equipment and maintenance basics.
